Thoughts are things

Truly, thoughts are things, and their scope of operation is the world itself -Napoleon Hill

This quote by Napoleon Hill truly changed the way I thought about things. I began to realise that I just couldn’t think about things, without thinking about what I am thinking about.

The thoughts that we hold in our minds are things and they exist. Okay, let’s think about it for a minute. If you think about doing something like going out for a run, walk, or eat, you will eventually go out for a walk, run or eat. It starts with a simple thought and then generates into an action.

So why then do we not pay attention to the thoughts that we are generating? These were the questions I asked myself when I started to realise the patterns of my thought. I wanted to master my thoughts.

I realised that the things in my reality were the thoughts I held in my mind. I realised that I had acquired the thinking I had from my external world and my creative imagination.

I began to pay attention to what I was thinking and what was happening in the environment around me and how it affected my thought.

I began to reflect more on my thoughts, and I started to pay attention to what I was thinking. Initially, this was a hard exercise to do as I couldn’t catch all my thoughts since we think about 60,000 thoughts a day.

I realised that what we think can manifest in life and it was thoughts like feeling worthless and unworthy I was processing the most, these were my dominant thoughts and it was shocking for me to discover this about myself. These thoughts resulted in actions that further cemented these beliefs I had about myself in my mind and then I unconsciously behaved like the thoughts I was thinking.

My thoughts began to turn to my beliefs and suddenly I was no longer the girl who had confidence in herself, I became a shadow of myself, I felt depressed, lonely, and alone with my thoughts.

I allowed my thoughts to become things; they became my beliefs about myself. I found myself telling myself things like I wasn’t good enough constantly

You see, a lot of people do not realise the power of their minds and how their thoughts are controlling the way they see themselves and things around them.

We must begin to wake up to the fact that our thoughts are producing things.

If you doubt this, then check your thought patterns and compare them with the results you currently have in your life. Can you see the things you have created just with your thoughts alone?

This is how to check: Ask yourself, what am I thinking, do I believe what I am thinking? Is this thought beneficial to me? In what way is it beneficial to me? If it isn't then, discard that thought before it creates the things that you do not want in your life.

There is no better time than now to check with your thoughts and see what things you are creating with them.
